MOTS-C is a mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c peptide, encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. Unlike nuclear-encoded peptides, it is translated in mitochondria and translocates to the nucleus under metabolic stress where it regulates adaptive gene expression. Research has focused on its role in glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, exercise physiology, and ageing biology. Supplied as lyophilised powder with Certificate of Analysis available on request.
